Jeremiah's Journey
In 2006, I was approached by a charity who had heard of my work with web design and had some issues with their web site. Briefly, they were having trouble keeping it's content up to date as they did not have any access to the site for editing. The whole site was outsourced to a web design company. This was proving both expensive and frustrating.
This site was developed using an Open-Source content management system (CMS) called CMS Made Simple. This system is written using PHP and in my implementation, uses a MySQL database to store all web site content.
The site was designed using CSS, with the content under full control of the CMS. The simple administration interface of CMS made simple allows the staff of Jeremiah's Journey to make updates and changes to the site without requiring in-depth knowledge of HTML and/or CSS.
Plymouth Marine Laboratory Intranet (private intranet)
I have managed the development and evolution of this site over a number of years. The latest re-design has been realised by the talented Mike Gormley using Microsoft C#, XHTML, CSS, ASP.NET and JavaScript. It has evolved into a collection integrated, database-linked web applications. The underlying databases range from the Open Source MySQL to Microsoft SQL server.
The current iteration of the site is standards compliant and uses best-practice web design paradigms to achieve a very functional and clean layout with maximum functionality and minimum clutter.

This site! Designed from the ground up using table-less CSS layout and XHTML for strict standards compliance and usability. A work that will always be "in progress". In fact this thumbnail is already out of date - I will get around to updating it honest!
