This page serves to showcase my current and previous work developing web sites
I am currently working on a replacement web site for the Radio Officers Association which exists to ensure that the work, life and times of the Marine, Aeronautical and Coast Station Radio Officers are not forgotten. The site will eventually serve several hundred association members as well as the general public. It is one of those sites that is so steeped in the history of radio and morse code that I have made an exception to the web designers rule of not including sound files which play automatically on its pages. The morse code that plays on the site has a hidden message for users of morse! The new site uses a modified template which makes good use of HTML5 and CSS3 to enhance the site for modern web browsers.
The previous site was a little tired and had a basic design. It was a static site with very little scope or features. By utilising WordPress for the new site, I have been able to modernise the design and introduce features required by the association such as a blog/forum, galleries, auot-play morse code sound files, a news feed, useful web links and a contact us page. The site is still taking shape at www.radioofficers.com and will eventually replace the old site at http://www.anything-it.biz/roass.
I have also develped WordPress blogs for marine science applications using WordPress. Samples include the Atlantic Meridional Transect (AMT) Blog and the Western Coastal Observatory Blog.
