I usually design and deliver web sites to my customers using the very popular free WordPress software. This software can act as a content management system – in short, this allows you to update web page content yourself using a fairly simple editing interface which requires only a web browser and no special software. This means you don’t have to call on me every time you need to update, add or edit pages, images, blog entries, news items and menus to your web site – this saves you money and gives you full control over your own web pages.
Web and Email Addresses that make sense for your business or organisation
As well as designing and creating a web site for you, I can also arrange with you the purchase of an appropriate form of address (technically called a domain name) for your web site and email such as fredtheplumber.co.uk. This address or domain name is typically the text following the “www.” for web pages and the bit after the “@” for email addresses e.g. microsoft.com.
Web and eMail Hosting
If you don’t already have a web and email hosting provider which is where your business / organisation web site and email is stored on-line, I can help you choose one that suits your needs best. I can also help you set-up your chosen domain name (e.g. fredtheplumber.co.uk) with that provider as well as helping you arrange to pay 
the web hosting provider directly for the hosting service. I am passionate about keeping keep business local and I host my web sites with the excellent Cornish Hosting who have great web hosting packages available and offer excellent support with very fast responses.
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
To make your web pages appear high on the list of results returned from web search engines like Google, Yahoo, Ask or Bing, I will work with you to establish key phrases and key words that describe your business or organisation. I then ensure that your web site is optimised with these key words and phrases in mind. If needed, I can also help you use the pay-for advertising tools provided by the major Internet search providers to further boost your search ranking.
Social Media (e.g. Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter)
Social media is a big thing for marketing organisations and it’s free! I can help you use Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter to help increase the profile of your organisation on-line and ensure your business looks modern and up-to-date with the latest Internet trends. Pricing
I typically price up web site development job on a job-by-job basis as the requirements often vary. To give some idea of general prices, a simple three page design (without eCommerce) with an introduction page, a more detailed product/services page and a contact-us page usually costs around £400. This is based on a general hourly rate of approximately £30-£40 per hour, varying with job complexity. More complex sites and/or eCommerce sites will cost more and be costed on a job-by-job basis. I can optionally provide an automated weekly web site backup service and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) service for your web site which can be quoted for upon request.
A web hosting account is required to provide a home for your web site. This typically costs £30-£40 per year and you will usually pay the hosting company directly.
